It was my honor and privilege to serve as Santa Barbara county supervisor for eight years. I am writing to propose the Santa Barbara County Government Center at Betteravia and Miller be named after the late Harrell Fletcher.
Although we had some philosophical differences, he was always a gentleman and did not allow our differences become an obstacle to becoming good friends. Harrell is the one who recommended that the Government Center would constructively serve the North County. I concurred and referred his proposal to my colleagues on the board and the government center became a reality.
My proposal is based on Supervisor Fletcher’s contributions as county supervisor and his many community services. No one deserves this recognition more than the late Harrell Fletcher.
