For the past three or four years my next door neighbors have thrown a very large Fourth of July party, and every year they have ignited illegal fireworks.Â
The fireworks shows have run continuously for three to four hours. Last year we called the “Santa Maria Fireworks Hotline,” and were informed that no police would be dispatched unless and until another resident called with a complaint. Why spend city resources on television ads and inserts to our utility bills if we’re not going to enforce the rules? Who will be liable when a child is killed or an adult loses a hand?
