It will soon be just a memory. And a very pleasant one, too. Ron and Terri Thatcher opened the David Ryan Gallery in Old Town Orcutt several years ago, redesigning a rather notorious building into a most appealing space for an art gallery. Who would ever have thought such a place of fine art would be in this historic oil town?
The artists whose works have been featured have international, national, and regional recognition—as well as emerging artists a little closer to home. Along with the stunning artwork has been very carefully selected jewelry and unique accessories for the home.
The “first Friday” art and wine parties were great social events and very well attended. The last one was held on Dec. 5, as this is the last month that the gallery will be in business.
It was my great pleasure to become acquainted with Ron and Terri, and their assistants Sharlene and Larry, who added their unique interaction with visitors and patrons. The David Ryan Gallery has been such a gift to our valley, and to the California Central Coast, where art venues are needed. It will be one of my fondest memories to have visited this place many times.
