Need to get your monthly poetry fix? Allan Hancock College’s Lompoc Valley Center is hosting a free poetry reading in recognition of the college’s second annual Community Reads event on Sept. 24 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in room 1-202/203.

The event will headline retired Hancock English professor Bob Isaacson, a published author, part of the South Coast Writing Project, and a co-founder of the Gaviota Writer’s Group, an organization that shares information and poetry among writers.

More Community Reads events are being held throughout the month of September, including a silent auction at the Santa Maria campus library benefiting the Friends of the Library through Sept. 29 and a Lunch N Learn lecture with history instructor Miguel Gamboa on Sept. 29.
