After almost six years of service, Etta Waterfield is stepping down as head of the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development Committee to focus on her campaign for the 33rd District Assembly seat. Her last day at the chamber was Oct. 30.

Ā

ā€œThe reason I am stepping down from this wonderful organization is to serve you on a wider basis,ā€ Waterfield said in an e-mail to some of her constituents. ā€œAs in any campaign, one must focus on the task at hand and in order for me to do this it is necessary to step down from my position at the chamber. It has been a wonderful season in my life and I have enjoyed it all.ā€

Waterfield is one of four people currently vying for the Republican nomination in the Assembly race.
