Vandenberg Air Force Base is scheduled to launch at Atlas V rocket into space the night of Dec. 11, according to a press release issued by 30th Space Wing Public Affairs Office.

The rocket, which is manufactured by Colorado-based company United Launch Alliance, will be carrying a payload for the National Reconnaissance Office—an intelligence agency located in Fairfax County, Va., that builds and operates high-imagery spy satellites.

The Sun was unable to determine whether an NRO satellite is attached to the payload. A call to the base’s public affairs office didn’t yield any information on whether or not a spy satellite would be heading up on Dec. 11.

The rocket will be launched from the Space Launch Complex-3 at Vandenberg. The 4th Space Launch Squadron is in charge of the mission, according to Technical Sgt. Tyrona Lawson, a spokesperson for the base, and the launch is tentatively scheduled for around 7 p.m.—if weather conditions are right.
