A Hungarian tourist was killed on Nov. 17 in Lompoc after she was struck by a car while crossing North H Street.

According to the Lompoc Police Department (LPD), the pedestrian was struck in the middle of the roadway. The tourist’s injuries were so severe she was flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian was evaluated for intoxication and found not be under the influence of any substances, according to the release.

The driver’s name and make and model of car have yet to be released by authorities, along with the name of the deceased tourist. The press release said authorities were waiting to release those details after notifying family.

The LPD did not return requests seeking comment by the Sun’s press time.
