An F/A-18 Super Hornet jet taxied at Santa Maria Public Airport on Aug. 27, in preparation for the weekend’s 21st annual “Thunder Over the Valley” air show, put on by the Santa Maria Museum of Flight. Though few aircraft took to the skies due to safety restrictions, about 8,500 people attended the two-day event, viewing World War II-era warbirds, a C-130 cargo plane, and “Seahawk” Naval helicopters.
