Santa Barbara County district attorneys charged a third suspect in connection to the murder of a man near Allan Hancock College. Two former Hancock College basketball players have already been charged.Ā

Deputy District Attorney Tim Covello confirmed to the Sun that Justin Armwood, 21, was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.Ā

Armwood’s charge arises in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Terence Richardson last December, in which Ali Mohammed, 20, and Lavell White, 23, two former players for the Hancock men’s basketball team, have already been charged.Ā

Richardson was shot to death during an alleged armed robbery gone wrong outside an apartment building, close to the Hancock campus near South Bradley and Jones streets.Ā

They are currently being held in Santa Barbara County Jail on several other charges, including charges of robbery and attempted robbery stemming from several more incidents leading up to the killing of Richardson.Ā

Both men have pleaded not guilty, according to court documents, and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 11, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. in Dept. 7 of the Santa Maria Courthouse.

Covello wasn’t able to provide many details about Armwood, except that his case is separate from Mohammed’s and White’s, although it involves the same facts.Ā

Armwood is being held on $500,000 bail, according to court documents. Covello told the Sun that the case is still under investigation. Ā
