Our third annual Safety Town summer camp has been host to some very impressive guests: With a visit from the Santa Maria Fire Department on July 30, the campers were given a generous tour of a real working fire truck and exposed to the feeling of holding and spraying water from a real fire hose!
On July 31, the children were visited by Santa Maria police officer Rick Bendle, who gave a wonderful demonstration regarding safety while also showing them the inside and outside of a fully functioning police carāsirens and all!
We are greatly looking forward to household safety day, animal and pet safety day, and stranger safety day with a community group walk finale in which the campers will experience first-hand the art of crossing streets correctly and sidewalk safety skills.
This camp aims for preschoolers to have fun learning about all the facets of safety through games, songs, crafts, and the chance to meet some real heroes helping to make our community safe. We greatly appreciate all of the support of the community and look forward to putting on this camp again next year.
