Want to design your own solar-powered car, program a computer video game, or learn about mathematics in ancient Egypt? Allan Hancock College Community Education is expanding its College for Kids program to include an ā€œAdventures in Math, Engineering & Computer Scienceā€ class this summer.

Through project-based learning, students will explore areas of mathematics, engineering, and computer science not normally taught in the K-12 classroom.

The class will meet Monday through Thursday, June 18 through 28, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Santa Maria campus, room M-101. The curriculum is designed for students entering seventh, eighth, and ninth grades in fall 2012.

The fee for this class is $48. Parents and guardians can register in person at Community Education (bldg. S) on the Santa Maria campus between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

This class isn’t listed in the printed summer 2012 Spectrum of classes.
