The numbers are in for the 23rd annual Santa Maria Valley Strawberry Festival, and according to event organizers, business was good.
The three-day event, held this year from April 23 to 25 at the Santa Maria Fairpark, saw an overall attendance of 60,140, an eight-percent increase from 2009. In a press release, Fairpark CEO Dennis Pearson credited the high turnout to great weather throughout the weekend.
Festival goers were treated to a host of free activities in 2010, including Kids Town America, the Great American Petting Zoo, a strawberry pie eating contest, and a new Ag Magic Show.
