St. Patrick Catholic School in Arroyo Grande will be host to an open house for prospective families on Sunday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The school celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.

The open house is part of Catholic Schools Week, and families will have the chance to take school tours led by junior high school students. They will also be able to speak with teachers and learn about the academic standards and technology integration at the school.

ā€œWe focus on the whole student at St. Patrick Catholic School,ā€ Principal Maureen Halderman said in a press release. ā€œAcademics are a priority, but so is teaching responsibility and accountability, and respect for others.ā€

The school is accepting applications for students entering pre-school through eighth-grade in fall 2014. Students in each grade level participate in a community service project as part of the curriculum. From collecting clothing and food for local families in need to participating in the food bank’s GleanSLO program, the school seeks to engage students in their community and to teach them about giving back.

Financial assistance is available for families interested in attending the school.
