As the class watched, fifth grader Jaylee Cantu and teacher Amy Iliff spoke to the archbishop on behalf of the school.

The school’s principal, Michelle Cox, said that there are more than 250 schools in the LA Archdiocese, and St. Mary was one of only six selected to interact during the archbishop’s first Google Hangout.

ā€œAt St. Mary’s we have some of the newest technology that allows students to experience life in ways we couldn’t imagine just a few years ago,ā€ Cox said in a press release. ā€œTo virtually be in the room with Archbishop Gomez was amazing. Our school is truly blessed.ā€
