In less than a month, the holiday season will be over and many of us will be standing on the scale (once again) with our heads hung low in disgust.
And of course the immediate reaction is to make a mental declaration to lose weight and begin the search for a gym membership near you.Ā

Opening just in time—at the conclusion of the holidays—Fitness Evolution will be housed in a new 20,000-square-foot facility located at the corner of Broadway and McCoy. It is slated to open by the end of December, according to Jesse Lopez, the corporate regional sales manager for the company.Ā

Lopez said it’s a results-based gym. In addition to the trove of exercise equipment (weights, machines, etc.) found in many gyms, Fitness Evolution offers myriad other products, such as tanning, hydro-massaging (basically a high-pressure jet sprayer that blasts water along the body), and deep-tissue massages.Ā

There’s also Evo-Fitt, a personal training for small groups. A separate room was built just for this, Lopez said. He described the training as ā€œthree dimensional,ā€ meaning that it works the entire body. There’s also one-on-one training.Ā

Evolution doesn’t have a smoothie bar, but it does sell its own line of supplements.Ā

Based in Modesto, Calif., the company is owned by Sanjiv Chopra. It’s a coast-to-coast company, with more than 40 locations in California, and gyms in Minnesota, Washington, and Virgina.

It’s also a fast growing company that’s opening two gyms per month, Lopez said. He added that Fitness Evolution is planning to open a 40,000-square-foot facility in Atascadero in January.Ā

Santa Maria is the company’s first location in Santa Barbara County, according to Lopez.Ā

When it does open, the gym will offer no-contract memberships for $10 per month. It’s a price point of which Lopez said he’s proud.Ā

ā€œPeople almost freak out when they learn how much it costs,ā€ Lopez said.Ā

The facility offers Zumba, yoga, and spinning classes. As an added bonus, members are offered a free personal training session every 30 days. Membership includes access to facilities all over the country.Ā

And if you’re too busy with your career to keep a steady exercise schedule, there’s no reason to fret. Evolution Fitness is starting a corporate wellness program for companies to offer their employees as an extra benefit. The gym strives to leave no room for excuses. Ā

ā€œWe strongly believe in great customer service and fitness made easy,ā€ Lopez said.Ā

Right now, new members can sign up for only $1 by visiting the gym located at 2410 S. Broadway between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. For more information, visit fitnessevolution.com.
