The city of Santa Maria will conduct a citywide call on Nov. 24 at 10 a.m. to test its emergency alert notification system, which allows city officials to record and send personalized voice messages to thousands of residents and businesses through a single phone call. According to a press release from the city, the goal is to ensure that the system’s information is current and accurate, and reaches every city resident or business in the event of an emergency.

The city’s test telephone message will be sent to all publicly available primary residential and business phone numbers in Santa Maria. The call will come in both English and Spanish, with the Spanish version only going to residents who’ve chosen that language preference.
