The Santa Maria Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating 24-year-old Caesar Perez, who is wanted in connection to a Nov. 25 stabbing near the Santa Maria Town Center Mall.

According to SMPD Lt. Dan Cohen, police were patrolling the 200 block of East Cook Street at 4:20 p.m. when they noticed two males fighting. As the officers approached, Perez fled on foot. The other male, apparently the victim, suffered life-threatening stab wounds and remained at the scene.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital. He survived, but Cohen said that Perez is now wanted on suspicion of attempted murder.

The investigation and the search for Perez are ongoing. The SMPD urges anyone with information on the whereabouts of Perez to call Sgt. Paul VanMeel at 928-3781, Ext. 2277.
