As California’s new school-funding program weaves it’s way into local areas, Santa Maria-Bonita School District is asking parents, district staffers, and community members to provide input about programs and services that would be available to students over the next three years.
A 12-question survey is called the Local Control Accountability Plan and is available on Santa Maria-Bonita’s website, smbsd.org. The last day to complete the questionnaire is March 28.
As part of the Local Control Funding Formula—the new funding process passed by state legislators last year—all districts are required to develop a written plan for student achievement called the Local Control Accountability Plan. The plan is required to cover areas such as parent involvement, school climate, academic standards, and student support programs. The state also requires that local stakeholders be involved in determining the priorities for each district.
Feedback from the survey will be incorporated into Santa Maria-Bonita’s accountability plan.
