The Santa Barbara County Public Works Department has received a total of $866,000 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds for bridge and road repairs in all five supervisorial districts, the Board of Supervisors announced on July 24.

Ā

The recently awarded projects—which carry an overall joint price tag of approximately $2.6 million—include bridge maintenance and concrete overlay and repair projects. Separate contracts were awarded to D-Kal Engineering for the concrete repairs and Granite Construction for minor bridge repairs.

Ā

Concrete repairs will happen in the unincorporated areas of Goleta, Vandenberg Village, and Orcutt, and include the installation of almost 4,000 feet of new sidewalk. The total project construction cost is estimated at $511,900, according to a press release from the county.

Ā

Minor bridge repair will happen in the unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, and Santa Maria, including on San Marcos Road, Paradise Road, Happy Canyon Road, Foxen Canyon Road, Tepusquet Road, Fernald Point Lane, and Turnpike Road.

Ā

The total project construction cost for that project is estimated at a little more than $308,000.

Ā

Work on both projects was scheduled to begin on July 27. County officials expect it to be completed by the end of August. For more information, visit the county’s website at countyofsb.org.
