On May 30, the Family Care Network will host its 6th annual Miracle Miles for Kids 10K walk/run, benefiting high needs children and families. The 10K race runs along the Morro Rock to the Cayucos Pier, one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in California.

The Family Care Network is the largest private, nonprofit children and families service provider on the Central Coast. Established in 1987, the mission of the Family Care Network is ā€œto enhance the wellbeing of children and families in partnership with our community.ā€ The agency’s programs have grown to serve more than 2,300 foster and high-needs children, youth, and families throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

The Family Care Network’s programs are designed to strengthen and preserve families and individuals, and are delivered in partnership with numerous governmental agencies, community-based organizations, schools, churches, local businesses, and volunteers.

The race ā€œMiracle Miles for Kidsā€ has grown since past years from 350 participants to more than 1,800 in 2008. This year’s goal is 2,342 people—or one runner for each child served by the agency last year. Participants ranged last year from 3 to 85 years old, and all ages in between, with the common goal of raising money to help foster youth in the community. The participants have traveled from as far as New York, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania to participate in this amazing event.

When participants cross the finish line on May 30, they will be treated to a post-race party with live music, lunch, and activities, as well as an awards ceremony. Each runner will receive a goody bag filled with fun items, including a Miracle Miles t-shirt. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. Walk up registration costs $50.

This event has something for everyone from the serious athlete trying to beat his or her best personal time to moms and dads looking for something fun the whole family can enjoy.
