Steve Molina, the principal of Ernest Righetti High School, has accepted a position to oversee $5 million in state funding for the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District.
That funding comes through California’s new accounting system for state money allocated to local schools known as the Local Control Funding Formula (LCCF). Molina will become the district’s LCCF task force coordinator.
The position includes supervising and implementing the Local Control Accountability Plan, guidance services, student services, and federal programs. He’ll also get to take part in the district’s effort to revamp the English Learning Program, as well as work on providing new technology to students and staff.
Molina has been Righetti’s principal since July 2007. Karen Rotondi will serve as the school’s interim principal. She’s been the school’s assistant principal for the last five years.
