Take a long, hard look at today’s economic climate, and then mark your calendars for an upcoming chance to join an effort to “not participate in the recession.” Local businesses are banding together to offer a one-day intensive “marketing bootcamp,” set for May 16 at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo.

The conference—scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—will offer marketing and social networking training from national and international experts, including Starr Hall, publicist/CEO of Starr Hall, Inc. and 2 Point Media; Chadd Rosenberg, CEO of New World of Media; Vanessa Stricklin, business development coordinator of 2 Point Media; Jeremy LaDuque, CEO of ELEMENTS; and Ellen Curtis, creative commander of Whizbang Ideas. Topics intended to help attendees “recession proof” their business include marketing, public relations, social networking, building credibility, Internet leveraging, and advertising with impact.

Rich Ferguson will make an appearance to entertain attendees during intermissions with strolling entertainment, comedy, and close-up magic.

Tickets are available for $69 per person, or $125 for two, through March 1. Registration will rise to $99 per person, or $189 for two, after that date.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Economic Vitality Corporation in San Luis Obispo. To register or request information, visit StarrHall.com/marketingbootcamp, or call 540-5050.
