Allan Hancock College is getting ready to hold its annual University Transfer Day—the day students, parents, and community members get to learn all about making the transition from community college to a four-year college or university.

The event, which is open to the public, will be held on Nov. 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on the college’s Santa Maria campus in the Student Center (Building G).

Attendees will get to meet and speak with representatives from more than 40 colleges and universities based in California and various other states. These representatives will be able to answer questions about academic programs, admission, scholarships, costs, housing, financial aid, and more. Some of the colleges present will include Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Cal State Northridge, U.C. Santa Cruz, U.C. Davis, U.C. Berkeley, and Westmont College.

“Anyone who is considering attendance at a four-year college or university is strongly encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity,” Julie Vasques, Allan Hancock College’s interim University Transfer Center coordinator/counselor, said in a press release. “It saves a lot of time and hassle when the university comes to you.”

Free snacks will be available courtesy of Hancock’s Associated Student Body Government, and raffle prizes will be drawn throughout the event.

For more information about University Transfer Day, or transferring in general, contact the college’s University Transfer Center at 922-6966, Ext. 3363.
