Genealogical research can lead to the discovery of your family’s history, a long-lost sibling, or the famous great-aunt you never knew.
The Santa Maria Public Library is host to a free genealogy workshop at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, in Shepard Hall. The workshop is offered to people who want to learn where to begin with their family research and how to keep track of the data they dig up.
Lea Cryor, head of reference services at the library, will be conducting the workshop, which will include some basic genealogy websites and resources, and what common mistakes to avoid while gathering information.
Members of the Santa Maria Valley Genealogical Society will be on hand to answer questions.
