• On Aug. 26, U.S. Rep. Lois Capps (D-Santa Barbara) joined a long list of politicians, activists, and other individuals to publicly express condolences on the passing of Sen. Edward Kennedy. “Today America lost a true patriot, a committed public servant, and a legislative legend. He was one of the greatest senators this country has ever known and an inspiration to all of us who have answered the call to public service. Long before I came to Washington and had the good fortune to work with Senator Kennedy, I was a great admirer of his work, particularly on the issue closest to my heart: health care,” Capps said in a press release. “Today, more than ever, we recommit ourselves to his cause of ensuring quality health care for all Americans. My thoughts and prayers are with Senator Kennedy’s wife, children … family, friends, staff and constituents.”
