Steve Lavagnino, candidate for 5th District Santa Barbara County supervisor, recently added another political endorsement to his list. On July 9, Santa Maria City Councilman Mike Cordero announced his decision to support Lavagnino in his bid for supervisor. “Steve brings to the table a perfect blend of state and federal experience combined with his passion to turn this county around. I support his candidacy whole-heartedly and will help him any way I can,” Cordero said in the release. After serving 36 years as a police officer in Santa Maria, Cordero was elected by an overwhelming margin to the City Council in the November 2008 election. Lavagnino enthusiastically acknowledged Cordero’s endorsement with this statement: “Mike is a respected leader in this community. His ability to bring people together, regardless of political persuasion, is what I admire most about him. We need to continue electing more people like Mike Cordero.” Cordero joins fellow Councilman Bob Orach and other elected officials in endorsing Lavagnino for 5th District supervisor.
