• On May 26, Rep. Lois Capps (D-Santa Barbara) was named to the conference committee that will negotiate House and Senate versions of an energy and natural resources package that recently passed in the House. Capps issued the following statement regarding her appointment to the committee:

“… I look forward to working with my colleagues in a bipartisan, bicameral effort to improve upon policies in the bills to move toward a cleaner, more efficient energy future.

“As a nation, we must continue to work toward transitioning to a clean energy landscape, and I am hopeful that my fellow conferees and I will have the opportunity to do so. Supporting clean and renewable fuels is a critical investment in our nation’s green economy, and has tremendous long-term benefits for our environment, wildlife, public lands, and the health of our children. We are a leader in this sector on the Central Coast, and we must expand these efforts to communities across the country …  . ”
