On. Oct. 29, Rep. Lois Capps (D-Santa Barbara) issued the following statement upon the election of Paul D. Ryan (R-Wisc.) as Speaker of the House of Representatives:
“Today, I congratulate Paul Ryan on being elected as Speaker of the House. It is an incredibly powerful position, but one with great responsibility to work not only for the good of the whole House of Representatives, but our entire nation. To meet the needs of our country, Congress must work together through civil rhetoric and thoughtful action. I look forward to working with Speaker Ryan and I hope that he will build on his history of bipartisan compromise by focusing on crafting pragmatic solutions to the many challenges facing our nation.”
