The Democratic Club of Santa Maria Valley welcomes Marta Jorgensen to its monthly meeting, set for Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at the International House of Pancakes, 202 Nicholson Ave., in Santa Maria. Jorgensen is a Democratic candidate for Congress in the California 24th District, which includes parts of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Jorgensen, a former nurse of more than 25 years, opened and managed a private computer school in Solvang for several years and now helps manage a transportation business in the Santa Ynez Valley. A no-host social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an optional dinner beginning at 6 p.m. Reservations are required for the dinner and can be made by contacting the Santa Maria Democratic Club Headquarters at 349-2708 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
