International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 46 recently announced its decision to endorse Santa Barbara City Councilman Das Williams for the 35th District Assembly. ILWU Local 46, which represents longshoreman and warehouse workers at Port of Hueneme, now joins a number of other unions already in support of Williams’ campaign, including the Santa Barbara Police Officer’s Association and Ironworkers Local 433. ā€œI am so grateful to have received such an overwhelming amount of support from local labor in this race,ā€ Williams said in a release to the media. ā€œI’ve worked hard on the Santa Barbara City Council to create jobs and opportunities for our working families, and I will continue to fight for them in the Assembly.ā€ Williams is one of several candidates running to succeed termed-out Assemblyman Pedro Nava in 2010.
