Put on your tux or evening dress and make your way to the fourth annual Santa Maria Mayors’ Ball on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Santa Maria Country Club, 505 W. Waller Lane. Incoming 5th District County Supervisor Steve Lavagnino will be the master of ceremonies for this black tie fundraiser to benefit Santa Barbara County United Way programs, specifically the United for Literacy Initiative. All five North County mayors will be there to show their support of United Way and promote education and literacy in the county. “United for Literacy is an exciting program that will target the root causes of many things that affect our children, our families and our local economy,” Santa Maria Mayor Larry Lavagnino said in a press release. Tickets cost $125 each and include dinner and dancing. There will also be a live auction featuring items such as artwork, dinners with the mayor, barbecues for 20, a private dinner for 10 at Trattoria Uliveto, a candlelight Christmas historic home tour, skydiving, estate planning, and much more. For more information or to buy tickets, visit themayorsball.com or contact Sandy Soria at 922-0329, Ext. 105, or at sandy@uwcentalcoast.org.
