Members of Santa Maria Valley Republicans Inc. are inviting the public to join them for a āstimulating, informative, and enjoyable eveningā on Sept. 26 at their 33rd District State Assembly candidates dinner forum at Ambrosia Restaurant, 122 E. Boone St., in Santa Maria. Voters can hear from Republican Katcho Achadjian and Democrat Hilda Zacarias about their political platforms over a dinner of beef stroganoff or salmon lemon picado. On Sept. 30, the Central Coast Caucus of the California Disabilities Services Association will sponsor a voter registration and legislation reception at the Veterans Memorial Community Center, 313 W. Tunnel, in Santa Maria. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to noon, will feature a presentation by Fred Robinson on the Lanterman Act, the 1970s legislation that established a bill of rights and the service delivery system for Californians with developmental disabilities. Candidates for the 33rd District State Assembly seat, Democrat Hilda Zacarias and Republican Katcho Achadjian, will also be present to answer some previously submitted questions from the caucus. The Central Coast Caucus is composed of organizations that provide services and support to developmentally disabled people living in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
