Pioneer Valley High School Career Center Specialist Karen Apple was among the 150 educators from across the country selected to participate in the fall Centers of Influence program hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy recently.

The purpose of the event was to learn more about the Academy and how educators can better inform, inspire, and assist interested students who may want to pursue a career in the U.S. Navy. The program highlighted the rigorous academic, athletic, and extracurricular components required to be considered eligible for the challenging educational opportunity.
The academy is a four-year program, and every midshipman graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree. Experiences such as study abroad, language immersion, faculty-led cultural opportunities, foreign cruises, and professional engagements are just a few of the benefits students have access to. Ā
āThis event was a very enlightening and exciting experience,ā Apple said in a press release. āI feel very fortunate to have been selected to participate in this opportunity and look forward to sharing all that I have learned and experienced with one of the most impressive programs in our country.ā
