Salinas-based public relations firm Paramount Communications is launching a Political Action Committee (PAC) in Santa Barbara County to raise money for Republican and other fiscally conservative, pro-business candidates for public office.
The PAC—the Central Coast Local Leadership Fund—is currently recruiting a Board of Advisors. The Convere Group, LLC, a communications and development firm in Silicon Valley, will undertake a 60-day feasibility study to determine specific policy, candidate, and campaign issues to target. Dan Trimble, former executive director of Lead21, heads the group.
Paramount hopes to build a war chest of $500,000 to support selected candidates on the Central Coast for the 2011 and 2012 election cycles, and is currently accepting financial contributions. Donors will receive regular newsletters and e-mail updates on the PAC’s activities and will be given the option of “assigning” their contribution to support a candidate in their area.
Santa Barbara County is one of seven counties in which the PAC will be active; others are San Luis Obispo, Ventura, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey counties.
