Beginning in March, unemployed Santa Barbara County residents will have an opportunity to take free classes in Lompoc and Santa Maria to gain new skills in high-demand occupations.
Courses in “Computer Applications with Social Media Marketing for Business” will cover Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheets, and Internet and e-mail applications, as well as social networking. “Electronic Health Records Support Technician” classes will explore trends in electronic health records, health information networks, and personal health records systems. “Energy Efficiency: Window & Door Installation Specialist” training will cover energy efficiency concepts.
All classes will take place on the Santa Maria campus of Allan Hancock College and the college’s Lompoc Valley Center at various dates and times. Graduates will receive jointly sponsored certificates of recognition from Allan Hancock College and the Santa Barbara County Workforce Investment Board.
