The community celebrated Oakley Park’s significant renovations at a rededication ceremony June 7 in Santa Maria.

After eight months and more than $1 million—including Community Development Block Grant funds—the project has reinvigorated Oakley Park to be the focal point of family activities in the city’s northwest quadrant, according to a press release.
The park features new amenities, including two Little League fields, a sports field, playground, parking lot, restrooms, a walking trail, half-court basketball, and new security features.
This effort was a result of the city’s Northwest Town Hall Meetings where the residents gave feedback to the mayor, City Council, and city departments about the improvements needed in their neighborhood. It’s expected that the renovated park and new amenities will serve to deter crime and provide a healthy recreational experience to the youth and residents of the surrounding neighborhoods, the release explained.
