The Santa Barbara County Education Office announced that the new Bill Cirone Heart of Education Award has been established in recognition of county Superintendent of Schools Cirone’s leadership and service throughout his career, according to a press release from the office. Cirone will retire on July 1 this year.

The annual grant award will acknowledge an educator who demonstrates passion, creativity, and compassion for students and the profession—all qualities Superintendent Cirone demonstrated in his 34 years in office, the release said. The inaugural award will be presented in 2018.
