Last year, a large portion of Allan Hancock College students received more than $4 million in grants, scholarships, and loans last year, with students receiving up to $8,000, helping them make their dreams of a college education come true.

Ā āI encourage every student to apply for financial aid,ā financial aid specialist Nohemy Ornelas said in a press release. āThere is a myth that you have to make a certain amount of money to qualify. If you donāt quality for one form of aid, you might qualify for another.ā
Several forms of aid are available and most can be applied for with only one formāthe FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Students who attend part- or full-time may be eligible for multiple forms of financial assistance to go toward tuition costs, books, transportation, and living expenses.
Grants and scholarships do not require repayment. Loans are given at low interest rates and require repayment after leaving college.
According to the release, other forms of aid include, waiver of tuition fees by the College Board Of Governors, and work-study programs, wherein student works on campus.
FAFSA applications for the fall semester take about eight to 10 weeks to process. Financial Aid office staff are available to help with the application process, and can provide information about scholarships, including the approximately $300,000 per year that is awarded through the Allan Hancock College Foundation.
