San Luis Obispo County’s Mothers For Peace, a local nonprofit concerned with the dangers of nuclear power, is offering two annual scholarships to local students who are passionate about peace, social justice, or the environment.

The first award is a $1,000 scholarship available to a college or university student with junior or senior standing. The student’s college or residence must be in San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara County.

A second award of $500 will go to a graduating high school senior from any high school—public or private—in San Luis Obispo County.

Applicants for both scholarships must be able to show past and current involvement in issues of peace, social justice, or the environment. Applications must be postmarked by March 11.
