Husband and wife Chris and Danielle Consolo started talking about owning their own dog boarding facility in 2001, and now, seven years later, they do. Lucky Dog Pet resort is open for business at 526 N. Oakglen Ave. in Nipomo.
After years of working at kennels in New York, and with the help of a business loan, the Consolos were finally able to open shop, according to a press release. Their new kennel operates under a social play model, with dogs getting the chance to run and play. Lucky Dog features play yards for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Dogs can also be alone, if they prefer.
Lucky Dog Pet Resort offers day care for dogs that need more attention during the day than their owners can give them. Day rates start at $12 for one dog, and boarding rates start at $25 for one to four days. Cat boarding is also available, and starts at $12 for one to 12 days. For small animals like hamsters and rabbits, rates are $5 to $10, depending on the pet. For full rate information, visit luckydognipomo.com or call 929-5825.
