Grab your library card and get ready to have some fun: The main branch of the Santa Maria Public Library has expanded its hours!

The library, at 421 S. McClelland St. in Santa Maria, is now open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.

According to city officials, the new hours were approved by the Santa Maria City Council and are made possible by Measure U funds.

Also this month, the library staff will continue presenting free workshops on how to download eBooks and eAudiobooks to computers or handheld portable devices.

The first Santa Maria workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Jan. 10, followed by another one on Jan. 23 from 6 to 7 p.m.

A workshop will be offered at the Orcutt Branch Library, 175 S. Broadway in Orcutt, on Feb. 5 at 11 a.m.

Make sure to bring your eReader devices!
