On Jan. 3, the Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI and drivers license checkpoint in the 600 block of East Central Avenue. About 250 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.
Ā Ā Ā Officers stopped eight people driving without a valid license and two people driving on a suspended license. Seven people were evaluated on suspicion of driving under the influence, but all of them tested below the legal blood alcohol limit. During the checkpoint, police also made two warrant arrests (one federal and one state). A total of 11 vehicles were towed and impounded.
Ā Ā Ā According to a press release from the Lompoc Police Department, funding for the checkpoint came from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
