For many people, the holidays are a time to gather with friends and family. Some they see every day, and others are seen on a rare basis. However, for some, loved ones have passed on. Marian Hospice will be holding an annual remembrance event, Light Up a Life, on Dec. 3 in front of Marian Medical Center at 1400 E. Church St. at 6:30 p.m.

The event isn’t just a way for the bereaved to honor their loved one’s departure. It’s also a way for Marian Hospice to fundraise so others in their twilight can live out their last years in peace. The evening will be a celebration of life, and will feature music, words of encouragement, and a prayer.

Community members have bought stars to honor their remembered loved ones, and, during the event, the names on the stars will be read aloud so their memories will shine as bright as the sun.

This year’s event is in tribute to the memory of George Davidson. In his absence, his wife, Bea, will light the Hospice Memorial Tree and share memories of her beloved husband, who had adored the nurses of the Hospice.

For more information on the event—or on the Lompoc event, which will be held on Dec. 10—call Marian Foundation at 739-3595.
