This Valentine’s Day has many romantics wondering what to get their loved one, and what impression the gift will leave. What better impression and gift than the warmth of an animal freed from the jaws of loneliness—which will surely demonstrate responsibility to a significant other—during the Share the Love Adoption Event, set for Feb. 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will be held at all three Santa Barbara County Animal Services shelters: the Lompoc Shelter at 1501 West Central; the Santa Barbara Shelter at 5473 Overpass Road; and the Santa Maria Animal Shelter at 548 West Foster Road.
A $14 discount will be applied exclusively for the event in an effort to generate more adoptions, bringing Santa Barbara County Animal Services one step closer to running a “no kill county,” which will make the shelter a permanent home for otherwise homeless animals.
“Our staff and volunteers work very hard to find loving homes for our animals,” Jan Glick, director of Animal Services, said in a statement. “We are asking the public to ‘Share the Love’ with a shelter animal and hope that more people will consider opening their hears to adopting a pet.”
“Share the Love” is coming to life with help from multiple groups from the Santa Maria Valley: Santa Barbara County Animal Care Foundation, Companion Animal Placement Assistance, Animal Shelter Assistance Program, K9 Placement Assistance League, and Bunnies Urgently Needing Shelter.
