The city of Lompoc now has its own Legal Resource Center, located inside the courthouse. The new self-help center will assist self-represented litigants in better understanding their legal rights, according to a press release from the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County.

Legal Resource Centers in the county provide information on civil matters, such as landlord/tenant, consumer, and domestic violence issues, as well as restraining orders and guardianships. Staffers can also advise self-represented litigants on the small claims process.

The center in Lompoc is staffed by Legal Aid Foundation staff attorney Becky Steiger and is open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is a Legal Resource Center inside the law libraries at both the Santa Maria and Santa Barbara courthouses. For more information, call the Legal Aid Foundation at 963-6754.
