Nursing will take center stage during a career workshop scheduled for March 31 at Allan Hancock College’s Santa Maria campus. From 3 to 5 p.m., the college’s health and nursing program directors will meet with potential students interested in the college’s nursing assistant, registered nursing, and licensed vocational nursing programs.
The directors will provide information about what’s required to apply for each of the programs, as well as what resources are available to students pursuing a career in nursing. College counselors and financial aid advisors will also be present, and information about qualifying for priority registration will be available.
Nursing programs at Allan Hancock College are organized in a “ladder” format, starting with the certified nursing assistant program, followed by the licensed vocational nursing and registered nursing programs.
Registration authorization packets for the certified nursing assistant program will be distributed at the workshop. Application forms for the registered nursing and licensed vocational nursing programs will be available online from April 1 to June 30 at hancock college.edu. Pick up print applications in the health sciences department office in the science building (bldg. M), room 132, on the Santa Maria campus.
