The Fund for Santa Barbara is now accepting applications for its grant-making program, Youth Making Change. Launched in 2008, Youth Making Change gives teenagers the chance to oversee the dispersal of grants to various nonprofit organizations. Each Youth Making Change board—there’s one in Santa Maria and one in Santa Barbara—gives out a total of $10,000 in grants.

Applications are available online at funds forsantabarbara.org/youth.php and are due by May 31. Board membership runs from July 2011 to June 2012, and each member receives a $300 stipend for his or her service.

The Fund for Santa Barbara is a nonprofit community foundation dedicated to addressing the root causes of social, economic, environmental, and political challenges in Santa Barbara County. For more than three decades, the Fund for Santa Barbara has been supporting community-based projects working for ā€œChange, Not Charityā€ through a variety of strategies including community organizing, direct action, popular education, legislative advocacy, and the arts.
