Also during the month of June, the Humane Society is hosting the ā€œSeniors Helping Seniorsā€ cat adoption program, which waives the adoption fee for people 65 and older who want to adopt a senior cat, aged 7 or older.

Animal shelters like the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society are usually busiest during the spring and summer months because thousands of unspayed cats start giving birth to kittens.

In order to find these cats and kittens loving homes—thereby freeing up some much-needed space—Humane Society staffers are inviting locals to visit the shelter at 751 Black Road in Santa Maria.
