Calling all Eagles! On May 29, Joe Nightingale Elementary School will host its 50th birthday celebration from 3 to 7 p.m. at the school’s campus, 255 Winter Road, in Orcutt. All current and former students, staffers, and their families are invited to attend the free event.

The celebration will begin with family activities, including campus tours, children’s games, a bounce house, music, and more. From 4:30 to 6 p.m., school staffers and volunteers will be serving up full tri-tip sandwich dinners for $9 each or hotdog dinners for $5. According to a press release from the school, presale meal tickets will be available the week of May 18, but guests will still be able to buy dinners at the event.

At 6:15 p.m., the Joe Nightingale staff and PTA will put on a special program featuring guest speakers from the school community, including students, teachers, support staff, and administrators. A special “50th Anniversary Choir” will perform some school songs.

“Over the years, Joe Nightingale School has had thousands of students and hundreds of staff members,” school principal Holly Edds said in a press release. “We are hoping that a good number of them can come back to our campus to help us celebrate our 50th.”
