In collaboration with Solvang Parks and Recreation, the Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding program is offering children’s summer camps that include certified horseback riding instruction, horsemanship, mounted games, crafts, and snacks.
The first camp ran June 24 through 28, and the next camp will run July 22 through 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to register at the parks and recreation office in Solvang, 411 Second St., or call 688-7529. The cost is $175. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants; helmets will be provided.
The therapeutic riding program runs winter, spring, and summer camps as part of its fundraising efforts. In addition, it offers riding lessons for beginning students of any age.
The program’s mission is to offer therapeutic riding, professional mental-health services, and hippotherapy with a physical therapist.
